Our Story

The paths of the founders of CI3, s.r.o. Josef Novák and Viktor Třebický, crossed in the late 1990s while studying environmental protection at Charles University in Prague. They both later earned doctoral degrees in applied and landscape ecology at the same university. Graduates of this field are among the current employees of CI3.

Their shared studies, interest in sustainable development, and passion for beer culture in the Czech Republic and abroad formed the foundation for a collaboration that has lasted for a quarter of a century and is relatively unique in the Czech context. Along with their professional interest in the field, the driving force behind their partnership is also their friendship and the belief that work and the work environment should not only be a means to quick wealth or a tiresome mortgage repayment, but also a source of enjoyment and a pleasant way to spend time.

Both initially worked in the non-profit sector. The first was a think tank focused on environmental policy in the early 2000s, and the second organization focused on sustainability at the local level. The valuable experiences from both organizations were brought into CI2, o.p.s., which they co-founded in 2013 and which still operates today.

With the advancing climate change and the growing interest of the business sector in this issue, it became clear that there was room in the Central European market for a consulting entity focused on climate change and carbon footprint. In the summer of 2021, they therefore founded the sister company CI3, s.r.o., with a primary focus on providing high-quality services to companies in the area of decarbonization. Today, it boasts the widest portfolio of companies it serves in the Czech Republic and Slovakia.

However, CI3 is just at the beginning of its journey. What will be at its end is unclear, but the founders firmly believe, along with T.G. Masaryk, that not only states, but also companies, are sustained by the ideals from which they were born.
